Gathering - the November Cocoa Daisy kit

The November kit from Cocoa Daisy is called Gathering. Since I'm studying and working a bit too much right now, it's not as easy to find time to scrap as before. But opening a new Cocoa Daisy box and digging into a new kit is pure joy! Making time for scrapbooking is so important to me!

Here I combined some pretty paper circles with gesso and splatters of mist. Writing around the edges of elements - here circles - is a favourite of mine when it comes to journaling.

Again, some gesso and mist and a photo of my girls from this past summer. I love the contrast that the black thickers from the "build your own add ons" provides.

I wanted to take a pretty autumn photo of my girls and they ended up kind of grumpy, and refusing to stand next to each other... I love them so much - grumpy or not!

I also created two cards using the super cute cat stamps from the Planner kit.

Bistro - the July kit from Cocoa Daisy

The July kit from Cocoa Daisy is called Bistro and it's a happy and cheerful kit!

The gorgeous flower paper that I used for this first layout is from the Corner cafe patterned paper add on. I created the background using gesso and a stencil and then some mist and glimmer glaze.

This next layout was created using the DITL kit. Again, I used some gesso and mist for the background.

I enjoyed picking some of the more subtle patterns and colours from this colourful kit, for my third layout.

It's been a loooong time since I created any pocket pages and I really enjoyed the process when using the DITL kit along with the July printables, to create this spread. I mostly kept the design very simple and I love the DITL cards.

The June kit from Cocoa Daisy...

..is called Let's go! It's travelled-themed, but still totally useful for non-travel layout too! Non of my layouts are about travelling. :) At least not about the vacation-type of travelling.

This first one is about what an incredible year this has been! I've managed to complete a whole year of studying and I've come really far on my journey towards becoming a teacher. I tore strips of patterned paper and attached them with gel medium. I used some gesso on top of them and then added more strips, this time attaching them using the sewing machine.

And this is about my twelve years of travelling along with this not-so-little-anymore boy! Twelve years?! How did that happen? I used some gesso and mist in yellow and orange, for the background. I loved the text stamps in the main kit!

All three kids have their birthdays in April and May and Tuva came home one day and said she wanted diamonds for her birthday. Her friend had gotten diamonds and Tuva knew that her dad had bought them from the diamond store. :)

The look upon her face when she opened the pretty box her grandmother gave her, and found out that it was full of "diamonds" was just priceless. Such a happy little girl!

Art journal pages...

Hello....! I'm still here!

My studies at the University have started and it's been really busy. I will be doing most of the studying from home, but we do meet up at the University a few times during the term and I had a very intense week when it all started. I'm taking courses at two different Universities and we had our first meetings at both of them the same week. Now I've had two weeks at home and it's crazy how fast the time goes by! I admit that it's a bit difficult to find the balance between studying and "everything else", but I hope I'll do ok. :)

When I was looking at my poor neglected blog I realized that I have forgotten (again) to post my latest work with the Project Art kits from Cocoa Daisy. The kits are now available as a subscription - if you sign up you know that you'll never miss out on a kit!

The July Project Art kit contained eight Promarker pens, and two Maya Road mists and this is my favourite project made with the July kit. I've been curious about "zentangling" for quite some time, but this was the first time I really gave it a try. There are a million tutorials and instructions out there and I watched YouTube-videos to find inspiration for the patterns that I used to fill up the outlines of my hand. I then coloured the patterns with the Promarkers and used a pencil to add some shadows.

Among other things, the August Project Art kit contained a set of watersoluble crayons. This is my favourite out of my August pages. I love the little paper dots that came with the kit and I glued them down, covered them with gesso and then used the crayons to paint.

I also made a page about travelling... or about not travelling... :)

...and a really messy one, where I used a couple of the Heidi Swapp tags that also came with the Aug Project Art kit.

The September Project Art kit contained something that I really love - Liquitex String gel. The blog post is going up at the Cocoa Daisy blog today and I really hope to post my projects here soon.

Have a wonderful Friday and a lovely weekend!

Time for a story...

The Cocoa Daisy September kit "Story Time" goes on sale to the general public tomorrow, Sept 1st. It's such a pretty kit with fabulous scribble stamps, so many fun details and wonderful, wonderful colours!

My first layout is about something very exciting going on in my life right now... I'm going back to being a student, studying to become a teacher. These are only a few of the books I'm looking forward to reading this term.

I used the main kit + the Quiet Please add on (the card with the fox, the glittery dots) + the Fairy Tale add on (the arrow, the vellum shapes). I also used the Night Light patterned paper add on.

The clock is from the rub on sheet in the main kit.

My second layout is about Alva learning to swim this summer - what a happy day!

I used one of the cards from the Day in the Life kit to write my journaling. The "love card" is from the Quiet Please add on, as is the glittery title sticker and the cute dots.

The golden hearts at the edge of the photo are from the rub on sheet in the main kit.

My third layout was made using the main kit only and the story is about Tuva riding a horse for the first time this summer. She was so totally cool - no hesitation at all. :)

To create my background I used the scribbly stamps from the main kit, gesso, a stencil and rub ons from the main kit.

Have you seen the news about the Cocoa Daisy Day Planner kits? They are available in A5 or Personal sizes and the October kit looks amaaaazing!

My June Project Art pages

The June Project Art kit from Cocoa Daisy contained some Dina Wakley acrylic paints + black gesso. I was really looking forward to trying Dina's paint and I wansn't disappointed! The colours are wonderful and  vibrant, they have a lovely consistency and they dry matte - perfect for a journal.

Here are the pages I created. The first one is messy and talks about my goal to run 5 km.

Life is crazy... :)

About my garden dreams...

I also painted one of the cute bags that holds the Project Art kits - so much fun!

Happy, lovely moments...

The Viewfinder kit from Cocoa Daisy is now on sale - go check it out! This is a fun and fab kit that has some travel themed items, but that is totally useful also for non-travel layouts, as examplified by my layouts below... :)

This is the main kit - I really love the stitching template and the floss!

I used the template on this layout and then covered my stitching with gesso, paint and mist.

On this layout I stitched one of the words on top of my photo. I used a white mist to add a very subtle pattern to the background.

My third layout is a bit messy and a fab example of the strategy "if you aren't happy with what you've created - add more paint!". :)

Project Art December

The December Project Art kit from Cocoa Daisy contains a fabulous travel set of Koi watercolours and a beautifully sparkling Iridescent Medium! The kit also contains vintage book pages, vintage flash cards, super cute vintage hair nets(!) and washi tape and Studio Calico cork arrows. I had so much fun playing with these supplies!

I played around a lot and for example made this tiny and simple drawing... :)

I painted over dry gel medium, previously applied through a stencil.

I experimented with some doodeling... and here you can see the amazing shimmering of the iridescent medium!

I made a page that I called "a wish list for my house"... about all the projects that I would love to get done.

I also used one of the fantastic vintage hair nets that come in the kit, to create a page about this new year. I had so many ideas for colouring the pattern created by the net! "twentyFOURTEEN" is one of the fab Cocoa Daisy stamps.

I experimented with painting a face...

...and I made a page about love... :) I love the "notes" stamp above and the "love lives here" stamp below!

For even more info, check out the Cocoa Daisy blog!

Have a wonderful day!

Julrea hos Pyssloteket, mm...
