Santa Fe Sunset part 2 - a very precious photo...

This is a photo that I've wanted to scrap for a very long time. I'm so glad I finally did it, and I'm so glad I wrote this down. Tuva had some scary pulse dips when she was newborn and very tiny. We were still in the hospital and the reasons behind the pulse dips were unclear. It could be something bad - like an infection - or it could be just because she wasn't quite ready to be born when they took her out. They made all sorts of investigations, among other things the EKG. The electrodes were so large on her small body. Luckily all the tests came out fine and she just needed some extra time before she was strong enough.

I used the Santa Fe Sunset kit from Cocoa Daisy - the main kit + the embellishment pack and the patterned paper add on.

The colours of these Heidi Swapp papers were perfect for this photo. My tiny, tiny girl...

Sometimes I love making mistakes when scrapping... In this case, I placed the striped sticker slightly wrong at the edge of the photo. I tried to remove it, but it stuck and I accidentally tore it. It turned out that I loved the look of the torn sticker and I added the pieces again and used my sewing machine to keep them in place. :)

Santa Fe Sunset...

The beautiful and fun August kit from Cocoa Daisy - Santa Fe Sunset - goes for sale on the 1st of August. I love the kit so much and I really enjoyed scrapping these layouts.

My first one is about how Alva and I made the walk to collect Linus from school a bit more fun, by making up a story about how we were secret agents. Linus had been taken prisoner and we were going to rescue him. :) On our way to school we stopped at our "headquarters" to gather some useful supplies... secret agents' stuff, you know...

The title says "You & me out on a very important and secret mission". We never told Linus about it, but kept it as our little secret that he'd just been rescued. :)

I love the exclusive Cocoa Daisy stamp with the camera!

I don't end up in the same photo as Linus very often... so I'm really happy with these photos of us 2 together! I mostly used the main kit for this layout. The sunshine circle stamp is awesome and I love the CD exclusive Maya Road ink pad in orange! (Both are included in the main kit.)

Can you resist the Glimmer Mist...?

I have a couple of projects to share today, using resist techniques and Tattered Angels products. For these Art Journal pages I stamped using a Versamark pad onto old book pages, and then heat embossed using clear embossing powder. I used Glimmer Mist Cupid for the backgrounds and then Glimmer Mists Dragonfly, Graphite and Blarney, Chalkboard Glimmer Mist Seven Seas and Glimmer Glaze Blue Oasis.

The stamps I used are from Vilda Stamps.

The canvas star is from Canvas Corp. They have several different mini canvas shapes, for example stars, circles and hearts. I also used a piece from their Decorative Wall Hardware.

I've also created this layout, using a Pink Paislee resist paper. It's such an easy way to create a really cool resist effect. I used the Glimmer Mists Marigold, Sunflower, Olive Vine and Blarney. I also used the Chalkboard Glimmer Mist Firefly.

The canvas piece was cut from a 12x12 canvas sheet from Canvas Corp.

So very busy...

...with family stuff... summer stuff... :) We've had friends visiting and we've been visiting friends. So many lovely moments!

Today we actually had some real summer weather - for the first time this strange and rainy summer - and we spent some time by the lake. The water is still quite cold and Tuva was happy to stay out of the water and watch her brother and sister swim. I tried to dip her feet but she was very clear that she didn't approve... :)

Yesterday we took the train to Stockholm, to visit the Technical Museum where we had lots of fun.

Every now and then I try to sneak some scrapping in too. :) Right now I'm working on my August Cocoa Daisy layouts. The Santa Fe Sunset kit is gorgeous and I hope to get some sneaks up on the blog tomorrow!

Using up those scraps...

Here's another layout using the Cocoa Daisy July kit. I used the label stamp from the July main kit to create petals for a flower. I really loooove that there are fabulous new stamps each month!

Besides the stamps and stamp sets that are included in the kit each month, there are also stamp subscriptions available, where you get three exclusive Cocoa Daisy stamps each month. These are different from the ones included in the main kit and with a subscription you'll make sure that you don't miss out on the stamping fun!

I hope you will all have a lovely weekend! This layout is about the crazy weather we're having this summer and we're expecting lots of rain again, this night and tomorrow morning.

Wedding card...

I've made a couple of these cards this summer... I came up with the design a few years ago and figured I'd repeat it again when creating a couple of wedding cards.

Then I freaked out a little when I remembered that Hambly is going out of business. :( So sad... Luckily, I was able to place an order for some of my favourite designs today. *phew*

Anyway... this is a very simple card. White cardstock, some Hambly, a misted Chipboard heart, some thread and a scalloped oval die cut from a book. And one of my old decorative edge scissors! :)

Just for fun - challenge

We have a new Just for fun challenge going on over at Cocoa Daisy... The challenge is to combine this month's kit with the kit of the previous month and this time also to add some good and honest hand written journaling to your layout. The deadline is August 13th, 11 pm EST.

My layout is about the mixed feelings I have about going back to work at the end of August. I know it'll be good in many ways, but I do struggle some with my thoughts and feelings.

And here are a few sneaks of the upcoming August kit...!!! I really love these tags that Christine is putting together as sneaks...!

Inspired by the artwork of Santa Fe based artist Mark White, we’ve blended oranges, yellows, and degrees of blues together to create a scrapbooking masterpiece. Featuring exclusives from Maya Road and Ormolu, along with newly released product from Heidi Swapp, Basic Grey and My Mind’s Eye, we know you’ll love sitting down and scrapping with our colorful Santa Fe Sunset.

Our add ons are named after two Santa Fe art galleries, and we’ve included a special travel based project kit designed by Christine.

Add ons...

And the August stamps... Don’t miss out on them, sign up for a stamp subscription today. You’ll get the three stamps shown below for only $11 plus shipping and handling. You can buy the stamps separately, but you’ll save money with the subscription.

Doodles...

I've admired Alisa Burke for quite some time now and I've been looking at her online classes... drooling some and thinking that I'd love to take them all! I haven't... yet... but I did sign up for Doodle delight and the Art of Abstraction recently and I have to say I love both of them.

Sneaking in some sketching and drawing when I really am very busy with summer and family, is a little easier than taking all the paints and big canvases out.

I was drawing these leaves while waiting for Alva to fall asleep one evening and I added colour while being in the car (not driving though... ;) earlier this week. Just for fun, simple shapes + colour, making me happy.

Tattered Angels Giveaway!

We're back home again, after a few days away. Summer is nice, but veeery rainy so far. Still, so much fun has been happening and I love that we have a whole bunch of weeks left together, before things get serious again. ;)

You need to check out the Tattered Angels blog, because you don't want to miss this giveaway!

Simple resist technique...

We're focusing on resist techniques and simple projects on the Tattered Angels blog in July. I created a background using Glimmer Glam Chandelier and a stencil from Crafter's Workshop, together with Plain Jane Simply Sheer.

When misting I started out with the darker Teal in the middle and then added the lighter Aqua on the sides. I love both of these Plain Jane colours...!

I painted the letters for my title with Glimmer Glam Caspian Sea (Yep - LOVE that one too!).

Playing with paint...

I have been longing for this... some time to paint - just play and experiment. Sometimes I feel like all I do is think about painting, scrapping and creating... not actually doing it. Too many ideas, and too little time I guess... :)

Wedding...

My little brother got married last weekend! It was a beautiful wedding and they were so happy and gorgeous! It was such a special and fabulous day... and I am so happy for them!

I am pretty sure that you'll get to see some more photos, later on... :)
